Durban-Lusaka direct flight underway

Durban’s travel and business stakeholders believe the resumption of air services between Lusaka and Durban will strengthen business links and boost tourism between South Africa and Zambia.

The ProFlight Zambia service started on Thursday, April 6, and will operate on Thursdays, with Sunday flights being introduced on April 16.

SAUDIA launches direct flights to Dar es Salaam

SAUDIA, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, launched its first direct flight to Dar es Salaam this past weekend.

The airline will be operating four weekly flights between King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The flights are operated with an Airbus A320 on the following schedule:

  • Flight SV463 departs Jeddah Airport (JED) at 01h15 and arrives at Dar es Salaam Airport (DAR) at 06h20.
  • Flight SV462 departs Dar es Salaam Airport (DAR) at 07h25 and arrives at Jeddah (JED) at 12h00.

Malawi Airlines re-introduces flights to Kenya

Malawi Airlines has re-introduced flights between Malawi and Kenya with a scheduled service between Lilongwe’s Kamuzu International Airport (LLW) and Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO). The flights from Malawi will be operated on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, while the return flights will be operated on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The flight schedule is as follows:

  • Flight ET 50 departs LLW at 16h45 and arrives in NBO at 20h00.
  • Flight ET 51 departs NBO at 06h15 and arrives in LLW at 07h30.
Fastjet officially launches new Zim routes
Fastjet officially launches new Zim routes

Fastjet Zimbabwe has opened its additional domestic routes, to Kariba and Hwange National Park.

The Zimbabwean carrier announced that the routes were operational on Tuesday, April 4. This brings the domestic destinations that the airline now operates in Zimbabwe to five.

The flights to Kariba and Hwange National Park are part of the airline’s domestic route development strategy aimed at improving air connectivity in Zimbabwe. The flights will be operated by a 30-seater Embraer EMB120.
